Bern Nadette Stanis

Bern Nadette penned the Foreword for The Higher Level Method: What Would I Tell My Younger Self? Vol. II

Bern Nadette Stanis is best known as the quick witted, sexy-savvy, original “it” girl, Thelma Evans from the groundbreaking, first African American sitcom, “Good Times.” The still sexy 70’s Star needs no redefining. Bern Nadette remains the personification of the “gem” that we have all come to know and love. She is still an embodiment of what young girls want to emulate. Undeniably, the onyx beauty is exquisitely graceful in the most natural forms. A classy, sophisticated, and humble spirit radiates from this brilliant actress and author.

Bern Nadette’s place in television history has been secured not solely on her undeniable good looks and sex appeal, but more so on her contributions to redefining the image of the young Black girl from ghettos across America in the minds of masses prone to stereotypical beliefs. Bern Nadette, through “Thelma”, proved to audiences everywhere that Black girls, with the support of their strong families, have sky-high dreams and unshakable faith and hope! Thelma, on “Good Times” showed a “ghetto girl” from Chicago’s inner city projects living a life with high hopes and dreams girded by intelligence, respect, dignity, and grace. For Bern Nadette Stanis, these characteristics weren’t groomed in acting class. Her performance as Thelma was a true to life projection of her nurturing, but no-nonsense upbringing.

Without question, as long as there’s a television, there will be a Bern Nadette Stanis across our TV screens with her dramatic, comedic, sexy but innocent, “daddy’s girl” charm. Everything that Bern Nadette does is marked with beauty, poise, and style extraordinaire! From being a trained and graceful dancer, as witnessed on many “Good Times” episodes, to raising her own family with grace, there’s nothing Miss Bern Nadette can’t do!

Stanis is back with a vengeance in her quest to quell apparent self esteem issues and insecurities present in today’s society. Astonished by everyday questions and persistent toxic “norms” in relationships, Bern Nadette felt more was required of her than over-the-phone pow wows about possible solutions. She was determined to proactively seek a platform to reach out and put an end to the cycle of justifying reasons to remain in toxic, unhealthy relationships. Her hope is to bring to light the mentality behind why we tolerate the things we do and to breach the core of self destructive behavior in relationships.

Today, Bern Nadette spends her time traveling the world promoting her books, speaking at events, and doing her part to impress a legacy of grace to those who she encounters.
